Overview
Connecting to HMRC Agent Services lets you manage client authorisations and track filing obligations directly from Cloudclerk. The connection uses your Government Gateway credentials and supports MTD VAT, MTD ITSA, and Corporation Tax services.
Connecting to HMRC
- 1Open Settings → HMRC under Connections
- 2Click Connect to HMRC
- 3You are redirected to the HMRC Government Gateway sign-in page
- 4Sign in with your agent credentials and authorise the connection
- 5After authorising, you are redirected back to Cloudclerk
Once connected, the page shows your Agent Reference Number (ARN), the connected email, and the last sync time. Obligations sync automatically each day, and you can also click Sync Now to trigger a manual sync.
Syncing Obligations
Click Sync Now on the connection card to pull the latest obligation data from HMRC. The sync updates all client obligations across MTD VAT and other supported services. You can manage individual client authorisations from the HMRC tab on each client's detail page.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect and confirm. Obligation syncing stops, but all existing authorisation and obligation data is preserved in Cloudclerk.
Disconnecting does not revoke your HMRC agent authorisations. It only stops Cloudclerk from syncing obligation data. To revoke authorisations, use the HMRC online services portal.
