Overview
The Tasks tab on a client detail page shows all tasks linked to that client. You can create new tasks, change statuses and priorities in bulk, reassign work, and filter by status, type, or priority — all without leaving the client record.
Viewing Client Tasks
- 1Open a client from the Clients list in the sidebar.
- 2Click the Tasks tab in the client's navigation.
- 3The task table loads with columns for Status, Priority, Title, Type, Assignees, Due Date, and Created.
Click any row to open the full task detail page.
Creating a Task
- 1On the client's Tasks tab, click New Task in the top-right corner of the page.
- 2Enter a Title (required) — for example, "Prepare Q4 VAT Return".
- 3Select a Type (required) and Priority. Type options include Annual Accounts, Tax Return, VAT Return, Payroll, Bookkeeping, Company Secretarial, and General. Priority options are Low, Normal, High, and Urgent.
- 4Optionally set a Due Date, Quoted Fee, and Quoted Hours.
- 5Select one or more Assignees from the staff list.
- 6Add an optional Description.
- 7Click Create Task to save.
When you create a task from a client's tab, the client is automatically linked. You do not need to select the client manually.
Filtering and Searching
Use the toolbar above the table to narrow results:
- Search — type in the search box to filter tasks by title.
- Status — filter by one or more statuses: Not Started, In Progress, Blocked, In Review, Completed, or Cancelled.
- Type — filter by task type (Annual Accounts, Tax Return, VAT Return, Payroll, Bookkeeping, Company Secretarial, General).
- Priority — filter by priority level (Low, Normal, High, Urgent).
- Date range — filter tasks by due date or creation date range.
You can also save your current filter and column configuration as a named view using the view selector in the table toolbar.
Bulk Actions
Select multiple tasks using the row checkboxes, then use the action buttons that appear:
- Create Invoice — generates an invoice from the selected tasks.
- Change Status — set all selected tasks to a new status.
- Change Priority — set all selected tasks to a new priority.
- Export CSV — downloads the selected tasks as a CSV file.
- Reassign — reassigns all selected tasks to a chosen staff member.
- Delete — deletes the selected tasks after confirmation. Hold Shift while clicking to skip the confirmation dialog.
Task Statuses
Tasks follow a six-state workflow:
- Not Started — default status for new tasks.
- In Progress — work has begun.
- Blocked — the task cannot proceed. Blocked tasks are highlighted with a red left border in the table.
- In Review — work is complete and awaiting review.
- Completed — the task is done. Completed tasks appear dimmed in the table.
- Cancelled — the task has been abandoned. Cancelled tasks appear with strikethrough text.
Every status change is logged in the task's activity feed with who made the change and when.
