Overview
When you add a new client, the onboarding page gives you a focused place to assign manager roles and set up key dates before you begin day-to-day work. You can reach this page at any time from the client's actions menu, so it is equally useful for new clients and for updating an existing client's engagement settings.
Opening the Onboarding Page
- 1Navigate to Clients in the sidebar and open the client you want to configure.
- 2Click the three-dot menu in the page header and select Setup Onboarding.
Assigning Manager Roles
The Manager Roles card displays six dropdowns, one for each engagement role:
- Accounts Manager
- Tax Manager
- VAT Manager
- Payroll Manager
- PAYE Manager
- Audit Manager
Each dropdown lists all staff members in your organisation. If the client already has a general manager assigned, these fields default to that person. Select the appropriate team member for each role that applies.
Manager role assignments feed into the workflow engine. When a process template stage is assigned to the "tax manager" role, the system resolves it to whichever person you set here.
Configuring Key Dates
The Key Dates card lists the six tax date types. For each one you can toggle it on or off, then set a date and frequency.
- VAT Quarter End
- PAYE Process
- Payroll Process
- Accounts Year End
- Self Assessment
- Confirmation Statement
- 1Toggle the switch next to a date type to enable it.
- 2Pick a date using the date picker that appears.
- 3Choose a frequency from the dropdown: Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually.
Key dates drive deadline tracking on the dashboard, calendar, and process auto-initiation. Enable only the engagement types that apply to this client.
Saving Your Changes
Once you have filled in the manager roles and key dates, click Complete Onboarding at the bottom of the page. This button label appears when all six manager roles are assigned. If any role is left blank, the button reads Update Onboarding instead and you can still save a partial setup.
To leave without saving, click Skip. You are returned to the client's detail page and can revisit onboarding at any time through the actions menu.
