Overview
The details tab shows a read-only summary of all client information: basic details, manager role assignments, custom fields, key dates, and addresses. To make changes, you open the edit form.
Viewing Client Details
- 1Navigate to Clients in the sidebar and open the client you want to view.
- 2Click the Details tab.
- 3The page displays five sections: Client Information, Manager Roles, Custom Fields (if any are defined), Key Dates, and Addresses.
Client Information
The Client Information card shows:
- Client Name
- Status — Active, Prospect, or Archived
- Business Type — Sole Trader, Limited Company, Partnership, LLP, Charity, or Other
- Source — Referral, Website, Existing Relationship, or Other
- Manager — the general manager assigned to this client
- Company Number
- Created — when the record was created
Manager Roles
The Manager Roles card lists six specialist manager assignments: Accounts Manager, Tax Manager, VAT Manager, Payroll Manager, PAYE Manager, and Audit Manager. Each shows the assigned team member's name, or "Unassigned" if no one is assigned.
Key Dates
If the client has any key dates enabled, the Key Dates card shows each one with its date and frequency. The available key dates are:
- VAT Quarter End
- PAYE Process
- Payroll Process
- Accounts Year End
- Self Assessment
- Confirmation Statement
Each date displays its frequency as Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually.
Addresses
Three address cards appear side by side: Main Address, Billing Address, and Registered Address. If a billing or registered address is set to "Same as main address", the card shows that instead of repeating the address.
Editing a Client
- 1From the details tab, click Edit Client in the top-right of the Client Information card. You can also use the actions menu (three-dot icon) in the page header and select Edit Client.
- 2
The edit form loads with all current values pre-filled. The form is divided into sections:
- Basic Details — Client Name (required), Business Type, Source, Manager, Company Number, SIC Codes, and Hourly Rate Override
- Manager Roles — the six specialist manager dropdowns
- Key Dates — toggle each date on or off, set its date and frequency
- Custom Fields — any custom fields defined for clients in your organisation
- Addresses — tabbed interface for Main Address, Billing Address, and Registered Address with "Same as main address" checkboxes for billing and registered
- 3Make your changes and click Save Changes to update the client record. Press ⌘+↵ as a shortcut to save.
The edit form does not show the primary contact section. To manage contacts, use the Contacts tab on the client record.
Importing from Companies House
When editing (or creating) a client, you can click Import from Companies House in the Basic Details card header. This searches the Companies House register by company name or number and auto-fills the client name, company number, business type, SIC codes, registered address, key dates, and officer details.
The hourly rate override replaces the default billing role rate for this client. Leave it blank to use your team members' standard rates.
