Overview
Global search lets you find clients, contacts, and tasks from anywhere in the dashboard. It opens a command palette that searches across all three entity types as you type, so you can navigate to a record in seconds.
Opening the Command Palette
There are two ways to open global search:
- Press ⌘+K on your keyboard
- Click the Search... button in the top bar
The command palette opens as a centred dialog with a search input at the top.
Searching for Records
- 1Open the command palette with ⌘+K or the Search... button
- 2Type at least 2 characters into the search field — results appear automatically as you type
- 3Browse the results, which are grouped under Clients, Contacts, and Tasks headings
- 4Click a result or use the arrow keys to highlight it and press Enter to navigate to that record
The search input placeholder reads "Search clients, contacts, tasks..." to remind you what is searchable.
Results update as you type with a short delay to avoid unnecessary requests. If no matches are found, the palette displays "No results found."
Understanding Results
Each result group shows different information:
- Clients — the client name. Selecting a client takes you to their detail page.
- Contacts — the contact's full name and the client they belong to. Selecting a contact takes you to their edit page.
- Tasks — the task title. Selecting a task takes you to the task detail page.
Closing the Palette
Press Esc or click outside the dialog to close it without navigating. The palette also closes automatically after you select a result.
You can press ⌘+K again to toggle the palette closed.
