Overview
Clicking any row in the task list opens the task detail page. This page is divided into a left column for content (description, time tracking, attachments, and activity) and a right sidebar for task properties.
Page Header
The header shows the task title, a status badge, and three controls:
- Mark Complete — one-click button to move the task to Completed (hidden once the task is already completed or cancelled)
- More actions (three-dot menu) — contains Delete and Show history
- Presence avatars — shows which colleagues are viewing this task in real time
Right Sidebar: Details Card
The Details card lets you change task properties inline:
- Status — dropdown to change the current status (see Task Statuses and Workflow)
- Priority — dropdown to set Low, Normal, High, or Urgent
- Client — search and select or change the linked client
- Type — displayed as a read-only badge (Annual Accounts, Tax Return, VAT Return, Payroll, Bookkeeping, Company Secretarial, or General)
- Due Date — shown as a formatted date
- Quoted Fee — shown in GBP if set
- Quoted Hours — shown if set
If your organisation has custom fields for tasks, a separate Custom Fields card appears below the details card on the right sidebar.
Assignees and Watchers
Two cards on the right sidebar manage people:
- Assignees — the staff members responsible for the task. Click the add button to open the staff picker, search by name, and select one or more people. Remove someone by clicking the remove icon next to their name.
- Watchers — staff who receive updates but are not responsible. Added and removed the same way as assignees.
Time Tracking
The Time Tracking card appears in the left column. If a client is linked to the task, you can:
- Click Start Timer to begin a live timer on this task
- Click Manual Entry to log time after the fact
- Pause, resume, or stop an active timer using the controls that appear beside it
Completed time records appear in a table below any active timers.
Time tracking requires a client to be linked to the task. If no client is assigned, a message prompts you to add one.
Deleting a Task
Open the three-dot menu in the header and select Delete. Confirm in the dialog that appears. This action cannot be undone, and you will be returned to the task list.
