Overview
You can create tasks from the dedicated full-page form or from a quick dialog that appears elsewhere in the platform (for example, on a client's task tab). Both methods offer the same core fields, though custom fields are only available on the full-page form.
Creating a Task from the Task List
- 1
Navigate to Tasks in the sidebar, then click New Task in the top right (or press N).
- 2
Fill in the Task Details card. The required fields are marked with an asterisk:
- Title (required) — a short name for the task, e.g. "Prepare Q4 VAT Return"
- Client — search and select a client from the dropdown
- Due Date — pick a date from the calendar
- Quoted Fee — the fee quoted to the client in GBP
- Quoted Hours — estimated hours for the work
- Type (required) — choose from Annual Accounts, Tax Return, VAT Return, Payroll, Bookkeeping, Company Secretarial, or General (defaults to General)
- Priority — Low, Normal, High, or Urgent (defaults to Normal)
- Assignees — click Select assignees... to open the staff picker, search by name, and tick one or more team members
- Description — optional free-text description
- 3
If your organisation has custom fields configured for tasks, a separate Custom Fields card appears below. Fill in any relevant values.
- 4
Click Create Task in the top right. You will be returned to the task list.
You can also create a task from a client's detail page. Open the client, go to the Tasks tab, and click New Task. The client field is pre-filled for you.
Default Values
When you open the create form, Type defaults to General and Priority defaults to Normal. All other fields start empty.
